Vita Artes Is Making Some Changes

Hello everyone,

First off, I want to say thank you to all our wonderful students and supporters who we have worked with in the past: The Vernon School of Music, The Vernon recreation Centre, The O'Keefe Ranch, and The Powerhouse Theatre, all our students in groups and private, and to all our friends and family. We have enjoyed educating students, dancing, and putting on shows for families over the past two years in Vernon. Our classes have always been a space of creativity and joy for us (it also helped keep Mr. Syd in shape!).

So, why did we not have summer camps this year? Why are we not offering group classes this Fall? The short answer is... life. With Ms. Natasha working at J. W. Inglis as Vice Principal, Mr. Syd has been staying at home with the little ones, keeping everything organized at home. When our daughter started attending pre-school, we found out quickly how long sickness can last in our household, and also realized that teaching classes in the afternoon was just not good for our family dynamic. As well, our parents health is not as strong as it once was, with one of our parents having a stroke in early 2024, and another having emergency heart surgery in June, we realized we could not always rely on their support for looking after the kids during our programming. It has been difficult to keep a good work-life balance, and so, we are reviewing what we can do to help support a healthy family.

With all that said, Vita Artes is not closed, we are just re-assessing how to provide our experience to our students. We will still hold private lessons at our home office, and Mr. Syd has been busy adjudicating across the province (most recently he adjudicated the Canada West Performing Arts Festival in Victoria, which saw the top provincial competitors in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan perform), and, as long as everything goes planned with pre-school and kindergarten for our young ones, we will be adding more educational content to our blog and youtube channel, as well as take part in some future performances within the community.

Our classes are designed for the student, and we do both vocal and speech classes. In our vocal classes we will work on material that will help enhance the students vocal development and skill, and in our speech arts, we work to provide confidence in communication on stage, in the classroom, and through writing.

We have loved working with students of all ages, and we will continue to as we move forward. And of course, we will keep you all updated about future classes we offer at any facility. Thanks again for all your support, and we will see you again soon!
